A Beginner's Guide to Ecosystem Restoration, also known as the Handbook, is the in-game manual and index for Terra Nil.

The guide is obtained from the Wasteland at the beginning of the game.

Tabs

There are five sections within the Handbook. Each section contains a brief summary and illustrations of the buildings, animals and regions within the game.

Initially, all information is hidden from the player and unlocked only once the player has achieved the relevant objectives.

Progress

This section is a summary of the player's progress in unlocking biomes and regions across the whole game.

Regions

Each region has a two-page summary in this section. The left-hand page contains a brief description of that region and the player's progress. The right-hand page contains the region's objectives with completed objectives being struck out, and the current objective being highlighted.

Buildings

Each building unlocked within the game has an entry in this section.

Animals

Each animal discovered within the game has an entry in this section.

Index

The index section contains a series of quick links to the information the player has unlocked. While the other sections have pages for all contents, the index only contains links to unlocked information.
